Every mentor helps a student stay focused, graduate, and succeed. As a Mentor, you’ll support a Rockford Scholar’s individual growth and strengthen Rockford’s local workforce, creating a ripple effect of success throughout our community.
Rockford Promise provides our mentors with the resources, training, and the organizational support necessary to make their time valuable and personally rewarding.
What We Ask of Our Mentors
- Attend one-time mentor training and occasional check-ins
- Be an advocate for your Scholar and the Rockford Promise mission
- Maintain regular contact—at least two touchpoints per month during the school year and one during the summer
- Help Scholars build professional networks and explore career paths
- Host a one-time in-person informational interview
- Complete brief reports and communications to support program tracking and additional Scholar support efforts
