ROCKFORD – Chanel Black, the Rockford Auburn graduate and Rockford Promise Scholar in her final semester at Rockford University, got to show off her musical talents in the land of Mickey Mouse.
Chanel, who won the Auburn’s Got Talent contest when she was a freshman at Auburn, is part of the of the Vocal Collective at Rockford University. That ensemble group includes 15 singers that perform a variety of choral music and serves as an ambassador for the college, performing at university functions and representing RU at community events.
Chanel, who was part of Rockford Promise’s third RU cohort in 2018, got to travel with the group to Orlando to sing at an alumni event, a church and a couple of other venues. The group wrapped up the tour with a trip to Universal Studios.
In 2018, Chanel was one of four Scholars to start their college education at Rockford University. Chanel was named to the Dean’s List in the spring 2020 semester.
