''Receiving the Rockford Promise Scholarship fills me with such pride and joy and reassures me that all my hard work and dedication has paid off. My initial plans were to attend college outside of Rockford but that quickly changed when I was chosen for this scholarship because I get to be close to home and go to school for free. This scholarship, for my family and I, is another step in the road of education and success that is being laid by my sister (who also received the Promise scholarship) and me. When I get my nursing degree, I will proudly serve Rockford's community.''
