``Receiving the Rockford Promise Scholarship allows me to pursue a higher education and get a bachelor degree in nursing. It lifts my financial burden off my shoulders and my parents. It allows me to focus on my education instead of worrying and thinking about how I am going to paid it off. When I found out that Rockford Promise was partnering with NIU, I knew I wanted to go there. It had the best nursing program and it was close to Rockford. It fits my college expectations. With this scholarship, I am able to pursue my American dream and it will allow me to help pay it forward in the future.``
