Celebrating Mentors: Helping Rockford Promise Scholars Navigate College
Rockford Promise Mentorship Program
Rockford Promise celebrated its mentorship program with an appreciation event at Katie’s Cup. For our Scholars—many of whom are first-generation college students—a community mentor is an invaluable resource.
Mentors are matched with small groups of 5-10 Scholars, where they form meaningful relationships that can often extend beyond graduation. These connections help Scholars develop professional networks, explore internship opportunities, and receive guidance throughout their college journey.
The mentorship program is a key factor in Rockford Promise’s outstanding degree completion rates, and we’re looking for mentors from a variety of careers to join us.
Mentors commit to:
- Attending training sessions and meetings.
- Advocating for their Scholar(s) and the program.
- Maintaining regular contact with their Scholar(s) during the school year and summer.
- Assisting Scholars in building professional networks and career opportunities.
