If you follow Rockford Promise’s various social media sites, you likely notice increased activity and the credit goes to Northern Illinois University sophomore Kalilah Chears.

The Rockford East graduate, who was part of Rockford Promise’s first NIU cohort, is serving as Rockford Promise’s social media intern. Kalilah has shown an aptitude to juggling many things with her studies. She made the Dean’s List both semesters as a freshman.

Of course, social media and excelling at school are just a couple of Chears’ talents. At East High School, Kalilah was part of the Rockford Competitive Marching Band, which included students from all four RPS high schools as well as top eighth-graders. Music remains central to her soul as you can see when NIU chose Chears and her musical talents for one of its student highlights.
